(Nearly) Wordless Wednesday – Homemade Christmas Village

By | December 15, 2010

I love Department 56’s North Pole Village, but don’t love the price. A few years back, I decided to make my own. So each year I make a building or two. The kids love seeing what I come up with each year.

Here are this year’s additions:

Jingle Bell Lodge

the Reindeer Barn, complete with reindeer I made from polymer clay

Here is the rest of the village thus far…

Silent Night Chapel (This was the first piece I ever made.)

Claus Chalet

Candy Cane Cafe and Mistletoe Manor Bed and Breakfast

The Greenhouse (a leftover from when I collected Snow Village)

And there is even a McDonalds.  (Elves need to eat too you know!)

I love Dept. 56's decorations too…we have a few of their ornaments on our tree! Happy WW 🙂

How fun! And creative. My hands work like a couple of clubs. Useless mostly. Can only work the shutter button on my camera. And a spoon. I'm pretty amazing with a spoon too!

I like yours better than the expensive store ones. It is made with heart and memories and are 1 of a kind, plus it is not so fragile that if the kids touch it it will break. I still have to be frugal even with my kids gone, but I love home made and if the kids help make it, even more so! thanks for stopping & linking up!
