Our family was blessed to be able to attend the A-MAiZEing Fall Fun Days at Meadow View Growers in New Carlisle, Ohio this past weekend. Just a short drive away from Dayton, it is a fun way to spend a beautiful fall afternoon with your family.  We all had such a great time and I wanted to share our experience with you.

The highlight of the Fall Fun Days is their amazing 6 acre corn maze. This year the theme is family fun on the farm, with a barn, tractor, and cow to wonder through.

They give you a scavenger hunt map at the beginning and there are ten animal signs scattered through the maze for you to discover.  When you find that animal, you use the attached hole punch to mark the animal on your sheet.  They also have a “Kids Cornfusing Passport” which my girls enjoyed.  Kids are given a sheet of fun farm trivia questions and the correct answer gives them a hint as to which way they should go next.

The guide at the entrance told us it would take at least 45 minutes to get through the whole thing. It took us about 2 hours to get through, but we backtracked a bit because we missed one of the animals in the scavenger hunt. If you get lost or need help in the maze, you are never too far way from a friendly “corn cop” who can help you out.

In addition to the corn maze, there are all sorts of other activities for you to do while you are there and most of them are free!  After we got through the corn maze, we spent several more hours doing all their activities.  Here are some of the highlights:

  • Kids’ Zip Line
  • Grand Prix Pedal Karts
  • Tube Slide
  • Camp Fire
  • Mini Maze
  • Rocking Horses
  • Giant Teeter Totter
  • Black Mamba Swing
  • Hop-A-Long Rodeo Ponies
  • Farm Animals

kids zipline

By far, my daughters’ favorite was the zip line.  They would have done this over and over all afternoon if we let them!

kids pedal karts

They also really enjoyed the Grand Prix Pedal Karts.   Little ones might not have the leg muscles to make it go, but they can sit on dad or mom’s lap and still take part.

There are a ton of fun photo opps scattered around the grounds, so be sure to bring your cameras!  Here is a fun one I took of all 4 of my kids.  Don’t worry, my oldest daughter had her time in the stocks too!

If you are a geocacher, be sure to bring your GPS along.  They have a geocache hidden there for you to find.  I didn’t discover the listing until after our visit, so we weren’t able to get this one.  Hmmm, I wonder if they know about letterboxing.  Maybe they will hide a letterbox there next year!

In addition to all the free activities, there are a couple more that have a small additional charge (the barrel train, the hay ride, and food for the goats).

golden goat bridge

They have a cute “Golden Goat Bridge” where you can visit with the goats and feed them.  You can get a small handful of goat feed for 25 cents.  You can add your goat feed into a little cup that’s on a conveyor belt.  The kids really enjoyed cranking the handle to transport the goat feed to the first level of the bridge where it dumps out so the goats can have a little snack up high.

For the little kids, there is a Barrel Train.  My kids were too big for that so we didn’t go on it.  The entire family, however, can go on the hay ride.  There is an additional fee for both the barrel train and the hay ride.  I think the tickets were $2 a person.

If you get hungry or thirsty while you are there, they also have a concession stand.  After wondering around the corn maze, a cup of cold apple cider hit the spot!

pumpkin tower

And what would a visit to a fall festival be without picking up a pumpkin or two?  Meadow View Growers had a nice assortment of sizes of pumpkins for sale in all sizes.   They also had a bunch of gourds and mini pumpkins that would be great for fall decorating.
