You may have seen the fun commercials on tv. The parents think they are pulling one over on the teens by swapping out one of their snacks for a Yoplait Yogurt, but then the teens make a swap of their own. I particularly like the one where the girl swaps out the boyfriend her mom doesn’t like for one that is even worse.
I was recently invited to participate in the Yoplait snack swapping challenge. Fortunately my teens haven’t gotten back at me with a swap of their own 🙂 Seriously though, I try to teach my kids healthy eating, but the older ones are a bit resistant. They want to eat junk food like their friends. So I compromise and buy them pretzels and crackers for after-school snacks. Not the best snack options in the world, but certainly not the worst. At any rate, for the past couple of weeks, I have been swapping a Yoplait Yogurt cup for one of their snacks – a much healthier option.
My teenage son is probably my pickiest eater, so I expected a bit of a fight over it. I was pleasantly surprised that he ate the Yoplait Strawberry Banana Yogurt without complaint that first week. The second week, he asked me if I would get more so he could have it everyday after school. So I then asked if he meant instead of the pretzels. He actually meant in addition to the pretzels, but I am happy part of his snack is nutritious. I still can’t get him to try a flavor that isn’t strawberry based, but that’s fine by me. No matter what the flavor, I love that the yogurt is providing him with plenty of calcium and nutrients.
