Now that Christmas is past, we are all starting to think of the festivities for New Year’s Eve. After all the expense of Christmas, I don’t have a huge budget for New Year’s Eve but I still want to make it a special night for my kids and family. Thanks to Aldi, I was able to pick up all the foods I need for our party and stay under budget.
Aldi has a great selection of party foods – from chips and dips to finger foods and appetizers. You truly can get everything you need in one trip. I was definitely surprised at their seasonal cheese selections. Cubes of Edam, Havarti, and Gouda Cheeses along with Aldi’s Pita Bite Crackers would make a great appetizer platter to take along to your New Years parties.
Aldi even has a wonderful selection of quality wines at great prices. My husband and I don’t typically serve alcohol at our gatherings, but if you want to serve wine at your New Years party, Aldi is a great place to get it. I was surprised at how many varieties they had to offer.
As for our New Year’s Eve party, it will just be my family – my grandmother, parents, and my brother’s family. So things are pretty casual. Lots of finger foods and snacks are on my shopping list.
The first thing I put into my cart for the party was the ingredients for my favorite cheese ball recipe. (You can view the recipe here.) This is a staple at all our family gatherings! I also added other party foods to my cart, like sour cream potato chips and pretzels. Of course, I also needed to pick up some drinks for the party. Aldi carries a great selection of soda and other beverages. A couple of 2 liters of soda and fruit punch made it into my cart as well. If you are looking for more seasonal beverages, Aldi also carries Egg Nog and Sparkling Cider.
In addition to the snacks and drinks, I was able to pick up ingredients to make several dessert recipes – like peanut brittle and peanut butter fudge. I also found several holiday dessert box mixes that will make my life a little easier as I am getting ready for New Year’s Eve. During this time of the year anything that saves me time is much appreciated!
Although gingerbread men are typically for Christmas, I thought this fun gingerbread decorating kit would be a fun activity for the kids on New Year’s Eve. It comes with everything you need to decorate one giant cookie that the whole family can share.
This Snowman cake pop kit is just too adorable. If you have been reading this blog for any length of time, you know I have a fondness for cute food. And given the amount of snow we’ve had lately, I think they will be perfect for our dessert table on New Year’s Eve.
Last but not least, I picked up a Peppermint Whoopie Pie kit. I just love the combination of peppermint and chocolate! I am sure these will go quickly at our party.
Although I don’t get there as often as I like, I love shopping at Aldi because of their great prices and small store layout. It is quick and easy to find what you need. When you have a large family like I do, you can easily spend a small fortune on groceries. So I appreciate that Aldi is dedicated to keeping groceries affordable.
I hadn’t been to Aldi in awhile, but I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to pick up everything I needed for New Year’s Eve. Even better, my bill came to just under $25. It is rare for me to get out of a grocery store without dropping at least $100 so I was so happy to have spent so little. With the price of groceries skyrocketing, every little bit helps.
So tell me… did you get any of your New Years party food at Aldi? If so, what yummy things will you be serving?
