Are y’all sick of the handmade Project Life cards yet? I hope not because I am having so much fun making them! I was really pleased with how this set turned out and the cards literally took no time at all to make.
Although we are having an Indian Summer here in Ohio, I know it is going to be turning cool within the next couple of weeks. I am so looking forward to it. I love Autumn! There are so many fun photo ops this time of year – from corn mazes, to raking leaves, to fall festivals. So this set of journal and filler cards was definitely inspired by that.
The background paper I used was from the Take a Hike 6×6 Paper Pad from Simple Stories. Although I mainly bought it to use with camping pictures, I discovered that some of the paper is perfect for fall layouts too. The pack comes with 2 sheets of each design. I cut one of the orange sheets down to 4×6 for the journal card and the other sheet into (2) 3×4 filler cards.
I added a strip of Pebbles black with white polka dots Washi Tape to the side of each card. For the journal card, it was about 1/2 inch in and for the filler cards it was about 3/4 inch from the edge. I used the pattern on the paper to help keep the washi tape in a straight line.
For the stamped circles, I used the Fall Holiday Clear Stamp set from Stampabilities. This cute set has stamps for Halloween, Fall, and Thanksgiving. (I found this stamp set at Hobby Lobby, but really any small fall themed stamps would work. They just need to be under 1 inch in size.) I used the maple leaf, oak leaf, and acorn stamps for this project and stamped them in brown pigment ink. Although I didn’t take the time to do it, you could emboss the images if you want.
I found it worked best to stamp the image first, then punch the circle. For the journal card, I stamped oak leaves on brown cardstock. I used the acorn and maple leaf stamps on tan cardstock for the circles on the filler cards. To make the circles, I used a Fiskars 1 inch Circle Squeeze Punch. I absolutely love the squeeze punches because they aren’t hard on your wrists like regular paper punches.
I then adhered 3 circles down the side of each card, centered on top of the washi tape.
For the journal card, I added a 3.5 x 4 inch rectangle of tan cardstock with die cut letters at the top spelling out “Autumn”.
I used my Songbird Cricut cartridge for this. I just love that font because it looks like cursive writing when you overlap the letters slightly.
And that’s all there is to it. Gotta love quick and easy scrapbooking projects! Be sure to check out the rest of our handmade Project Life cards for even more ideas. So tell me… What scrapbooking projects are you working on right now?
