Make a Cute Doll Mailbox | American Girl Doll Crafts
Valentine’s Day is in just 2 weeks, so I have been busy making some Valentine-themed American Girl Doll crafts for my daughters. Today I want to share with you an adorable doll mailbox that you can fill with printable Valentines. You can easily find tin mailboxes this time of year at your local discount or dollar store in with their Valentine displays. Target has the tin mailboxes in their dollar section, but the lids remove completely. I found one with a hinge at my local Michaels for $4. Regardless of where you find yours, these mailboxes are so easy to convert into a free standing mailbox with a few things from your local craft store! Sitting on a base, these tin mailboxes are the perfect size for doll play. Here is how I made ours. Materials: novelty Tin Mailbox approx. 3 3/4 inches tall x 5 1/4 inches long 4 … Continue reading

Winter Gear and Sled for American Girl Dolls
One of the gifts for my youngest daughter this year is a sled for her American Girl Dolls. I got busy crafting and also made her some winter gear to go with it. The sled was a find at Crafts 2000. I got it for $9.97, which was quite a bargain in my opinion. My other purchase for the ensemble was the boots which I found at my local Michaels. The hat and scarf are crocheted, both of which were done without a pattern. After you have been crocheting for awhile and know how to do some basic shaping, it’s not all too hard coming up with your own patterns. I put the 18 inch doll hat free crochet pattern online. You can access the hat pattern, as well as the pattern for the flower embellishment, by clicking on the link. I hope to get the twirly scarf pattern up … Continue reading
American Girl Doll Halloween Candy Bucket – Free Plastic Canvas Pattern
With Halloween fast approaching, I couldn’t resist making a little something for The Little One’s doll. I settled on an American Girl Doll Halloween candy bucket. It worked up really quickly and is so cute. The free plastic canvas pattern could also be used to make little treat baskets for a Halloween party. I think they would be cute filled with candy corn.

Make an American Girl Headband – Free Plastic Canvas Pattern
While I love crafting for my daughters’ American Girl dolls, I also enjoy crafting with my daughters. At their age though, the crafts have to be fairly simple and completed in one session so they don’t lose interest. I have been teaching them to sew using plastic canvas so I came up with a simple project that the girls can make by themselves. Keep reading to see how you can make a quick and easy American Girl doll headband crafted from plastic canvas. These work up super quick. My daughters finished theirs in about a half an hour so this was perfect for their attention spans. Miss S and Miss A were so proud of themselves for making the doll headbands all on their own. They are already asking what they can make next. These are so easy to make, you can make several to coordinate with different outfits. … Continue reading

Patriotic American Girl Tutu – Make a Tutu for an 18 Inch Doll
I have seen numerous tutorials out there showing how to make a tutu for a little girl, but have never seen any instructions for making them for American Girl dolls. The Little One decided she needed an American Girl tutu. So of course, mommy was happy to get out her craft supplies and try to make one for her doll. With the 4th of July rapidly approaching, I decided to make it in red, white, and blue. Turns out it’s pretty easy to make a doll tutu, everything is just smaller. I was able to finish it up in an hour and that was with distractions. The most tedious part is cutting the strips, but that is made easier with a rotary cutter. This is a great project for your daughter to make. An adult should handle the rotary cutter and glue gun, but everything else should be easy … Continue reading
American Girl Doll Flip Flops ~ Free Plastic Canvas Pattern
My youngest daughter adores her American Girl dolls and I love making things for her dolls. It’s a win-sin situation! Lately I have been tackling 18 inch doll shoes. My latest creation is a pair of American Girl Doll Flip Flops. Made from plastic canvas, these adorable little shoes work up quickly. One pair takes 30-45 minutes. This would be a good summer project to help teach your daughter to sew, especially if you used the plastic beginner’s needles. Materials Needed to Make a Pair of American Girl Doll Flip Flops: scraps of 7 count plastic canvas (You will need 4 pieces that are 10 x 17 holes and smaller pieces for the straps) small amount of 1/2 inch elastic worsted weight yarn in the colors of your choice (You will need one color for the shoe base and one color for the strap) thread to match the flip flops … Continue reading
Handmade for Christmas – Crafting for American Girl Dolls
At the beginning of 2010, the bookworm and the little one got their first American Girl dolls. Since then, they have officially become American Girl fanatics. Every time a catalog arrives in the mail, they spend days looking through it, adding items to their Christmas wish list. Since another American Girl doll topped both of their Christmas lists, I kept an eye out for good deals on American Girl dolls on Ebay this past summer. I found the retired Samantha for the little one and Kit for the bookwork. While Samantha came in her original clothing and in like-new condition, poor Kit came sans clothing. I set about making her some clothes, doing my best to stick to the looks of the original. While not exact, I was pleased with how everything turned out. Here is the Kit as she comes from American Girl, just for comparison. Here is the Kit … Continue reading
