Skyhawks Summer Sports Camps for Kids

skyhawks sports camps

Are your kids like mine?  Would they be perfectly content to sit inside and surf the internet or play video games all summer long?  Do you struggle with ways to keep your kids active over the summer break from school? Maybe a sports camp is just the thing your child needs.  Skyhawks Summer Sports Camps for Kids are a great way to get your child some exercise in a fun way while developing new skills.

The mission statement of SkyHawks is ”We teach life skills through sports.”  In addition to learning the skills needed to participate in the various sports, children who attend Skyhawks camps also learn valuable life lessons such as teamwork, respect, sportsmanship, responsibility, and leadership.

My kids are not naturally athletic so we tend to shy away from organized sports.  Even at the elementary school level some of those groups are so intense and completely focused on winning. It’s just not a great environment for a child wanting to learn a new sport.  I love that Skyhawks summer sports camps focus on learning new skills – not the competition aspect. I was thrilled to have found a program where my kids won’t have to worry that they won’t measure up to the abilities of their peers.

Skyhawks Summer Sports Camp are geared for ages 3-12.  Children are placed into groups based on their ages and their ability.   It doesn’t matter if they are just starting out or if they have been playing for awhile.  I love that Skyhawks camps offers children the chance to try out a new sport in a completely safe and supporting environment.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the variety of summer sports camps that Skyhawks offers.  They offer camps for your traditional sports like football and baseball, but they also had some surprising offerings, like skateboarding and capture the flag.  They also have a multi-sports camp that gives your child the chance to try out several different sports.  Here are the camps that they currently offer.

  • Baseball
  • Mini-Hawk (baseball, basketball and soccer combined)
  • Basketball
  • Multi-sport (2-3 different sports)
  • Capture the Flag
  • Skateboarding
  • Cheerleading
  • Soccer
  • Flag Football
  • Tennis
  • Golf
  • Track & Field
  • Lacrosse
  • Volleyball

Skyhawks offers sports camp opportunities in over 500 communities nationwide.  As I was browsing their list of locations, I was pleased to discover the tennis camp my daughter wants to attend is just 2 miles from my house!

Whether you want to help your child become the next Michael Jordan, or you just want your child to get a little bit of exercise and fresh air, Skyhawks Summer Sports Camps are a great opportunity for your child to learn new skills and meet new friends.
