Have you heard all the buzz about Diamond Candles?
Diamond Candles are wonderfully scented, all natural soy-based candles, which is a great enough reason alone to buy them. However, there is a fun twist. Each candle also contains a surprise inside. (Think Cracker Jacks for grown ups!) Hidden in the wax of every Diamond Candle is a foil pouch which contains a ring, worth anywhere from $10 to $5000. How fun is that?
I chose the Carnival Candy scented Diamond Candle. I thought it would be a great reminder of summertime fun now that the weather is getting colder. I love cotton candy and you don’t find too many candles out there that smell like it.
My first impression of my candle when I opened it was that it smelled more like bubble gum. (There’s a difference between the scent of bubble gum and cotton candy, no matter what my husband claims!) However, when I lit the candle, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it does in fact smell exactly like cotton candy. If I close my eyes, I can pretend I am at the county fair. I love it.
The scent from the Diamond Candles is long-lasting too. I had my candle lit for about an hour the first time, before I had to extinguish it to run some errands. When I came home two hours later, my living room still smelled wonderful. You certainly can’t say that for most scented candles.
I burned my candle for about 2 hours before I got impatient and dug out my ring. However, I don’t recommend doing this. Let the candle melt entirely down to the ring pouch before retrieving your ring. Otherwise, you might end up with a bit of a waxy mess. I may or may not have had cotton candy smelling fingers for days afterwards Anyway, I have heard other bloggers say it takes about 6 hours for the wax to be completely melted around your ring. Once the wax is melted to the pouch, you can easily retrieve your ring with a spoon or tweezers. The ring is wrapped in plastic and then the foil pouch so it is completely protected from the wax.
I eagerly unwrapped my pouch and discovered a pretty purple ring, which my younger daughter immediately claimed as her own – despite the fact that it is way too big for her! It is probably one of the $10 rings, but it is kind of pretty. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised to see that it is a sturdy ring with a metal band. The stone is probably glass, but is quite faceted and sparkly. All in all, it was a fun time anticipating what ring I would get.
With Christmas coming, I think a Diamond Candle would make a fun gift for any woman on your gift list. I am planning on getting these as teacher gifts this year. I love that the recipient gets a ring as a keepsake long after the candle has burned down.
