Crochet Bunny Easter Basket – Free Craft Pattern
A couple of years ago, I made my kids all a homemade Easter basket. I wanted baskets that could be reused from year to year instead of the Wal-mart 97 cent specials we usually bought. I treasure things my grandmother made me when I was little, so I hope my kids feel the same way about the baskets I made them. They certainly were created with lots of love! The above is my youngest daughter’s bunny basket . I found a pattern on Lionbrand’s website that I liked, but it was really too small – especially since I sometimes like to get DVDs to go in the kids’ baskets. I ended up adapting the Lionbrand pattern to fit over a Gladware bowl to make it sturdier. The handle is reinforced with plastic canvas. I think it is sufficiently different from the Lionbrand one that I can feel safe in … Continue reading
Teen Easter Basket Ideas
Looking for teen Easter basket ideas? Even if they are long past believing in the Easter Bunny, teenagers still enjoy the thrill of getting a basket on Easter morning. However, the usual coloring books and toys won’t exactly work for older kids. My kids vary greatly in age. The youngest is 8 and the oldest is 19. The Easter baskets for my two youngest girls are easy, but the ones for my two teenagers take a bit more thought. So I thought I would share what has worked for us in the past. Teen Easter Basket Ideas Teen Magazines Inexpensive Jewelry Nail Polish Makeup CDs or DVDs Gel Pens Books School Supplies Gum Small Scrapbooking Goodies Journal iTunes Gift Card Cell Phone Minutes (if they have a prepaid cell phone like mine do) Free Chore Pass Coupons Easter Candy Did I miss anything? If you have any great teen Easter … Continue reading

Shamrock Quesadillas for St. Patricks Day
Quick to prepare and fun to eat, Shamrock Quesadillas make a fun St. Patrick’s Day lunch for kids and adults alike. I love to make serve fun meals for my family on St. Patrick’s Day. Everything is usually green or shamrock shaped. So I was thrilled to discover spinach tortillas at the grocery store. Cut with a large shamrock cookie cutter, they are easily transformed into Shamrock Quesadillas. Tip: If your kids don’t like or can’t have cheese, no problem. Just make them into Shamrock peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Or use the same cookie cuttter to cut lunch meat for a Shamrock Sandwich. Shamrock Quesadillas Recipe You will need a large shamrock cookie cutter for this recipe. Mine is 5 inches in size. Ingredients: Spinach Tortillas (mine were the large wrap size) Cheese of choice, shredded (we used co-jack, but muenster is good too.) Toppings of choice, optional (chicken, … Continue reading

Shamrock Mashed Potatoes for St. Patrick’s Day
Looking for a fun side dish to serve for St. Patrick’s Day? Then you will want to check out this fun Shamrock Mashed Potatoes recipe! Every St. Patrick’s Day, I like to make a special meal for my family. I try to make sure that everything I serve is either entirely green or has a bit of green in it. When I first got married and had kids, this was accomplished using liberal amounts of green food coloring. Now that I am more health-conscious, I look to more natural ways to color our foods, while still being able to enjoy our traditional green meal. As I was wracking my brains to try to figure out how to color mashed potatoes without food coloring, it dawned on me. Pureed raw spinach was the answer. I use raw spinach all the time in my green smoothies and you can’t taste it at … Continue reading
