Wordy Wednesday – 10 Mile Hike {and a Linky}
My husband and I decided we needed an incentive to exercise more now that the weather is warming. So we are currently rewarding ourselves with $1 for every mile we walk together. We are saving for a solar charger backpack to take with us when we go hiking. (The geocaching and letterboxing apps we use on our phone are battery hogs!) To earn enough money for the charger, we will need to hike 135 miles. This past weekend went on a 10 mile hike and were able to add $10 more towards the charger. For this weekend’s hike, we chose Battelle Darby Creek Park in Columbus, OH. It is a beautiful park and the trails are well-maintained. Here are some of the sites we saw along the way. Beavercreek Ohio 9-11 Memorial
Beavercreek has a new 9-11 memorial dedicated to the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. The pentagon-shaped memorial features a piece of the wreckage of the World Trade Center and has a sign with the names of all the victims. It’s hard to believe that 10 years have gone by since the horrific terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. When the first plane hit, I was working on getting some eBay auctions ready to be mailed and had the tv on in the background. Needless to say, I didn’t get much work done that day as I sat glued to the tv, watching in horror. America was changed forever that day. The Beavercreek Ohio 9-11 Memorial is located at Beavercreek Station (a bike path hub) on North Fairfield Rd. just south of Dayton-Xenia Rd.
