Fiber One Chewy Bars for Healthy Snacking on the Go

Fiber One Chewy gift pack

During the summer, you can frequently find our family hiking in one of Ohio’s many beautiful state parks. I am always on the lookout for healthy snacks to bring along on our adventures. I frequently rely on granola bars, but I don’t always have time to make my own. So I was excited to get to try new Fiber One Chewy Bars. They were just the thing to take along for a snack on a recent hike. Fiber One® Chewy bars are a nutritious snack that the whole family can enjoy! They are available in Chocolate and Strawberry PB&J varieties. Our whole family truly enjoyed them, especially the PB&J variety. With Peanut Butter drizzled on top and coating the bottom, these bars reminded me of my childhood favorite. I practically lived on peanut butter and jelly as a child!  The Chocolate variety is equally yummy and is perfect for those … Continue reading

Creative Dates with Your Spouse – Go Geocaching!

geocaching date

How often do you and your husband get away for a date? If you are like us, not very often. When we do get away, it is typically to see a movie.  However, it is not very conducive to meaningful conversations that don’t involve your children. We have recently started making an effort to take time away from the kids to focus on each other.  Wanting some time to yourself away from the kids is not a bad thing!  Lately we have been skipping the movies and thinking outside the box for our monthly dates. One of our new favorite dates is to go geocaching.  We have nice hikes in the woods, see beautiful sites (like the waterfall above), and are able to really talk without the kids interrupting.  Plus we have a friendly competition going to see who can find the most caches! All married couples need some time … Continue reading

Grad Party Pleated Paper Medallions ~ Graduation Crafts

Graduation Medallion

With just a couple of weeks until my daughter’s Grad Party, I have been busy, busy, busy. So much to do and so little time to do it! This week I have been focusing on graduation crafts that I can use for decorations. I love the look of paper medallions and they are so easy to make. So I thought I would share how I made some graduation themed paper medallions, using scrapbooking paper and my Cricut cutter. There are a ton of tutorials out there to make paper medallions, but I especially like this tutorial over at Handmade by Anne Potter. Many of the tutorials I came across called for using a glue gun to hold the medallion together. The one I linked uses string and a hole punch. I have made them both ways and I think Anne’s method is simpler and less messy. The original tutorial used … Continue reading

Honey Bunches of Oats – Now With More Granola Bunches

Although I would love to make a hot breakfast each weekday morning before the kids head off to school, I have to admit, that rarely happens. Our school district lost busing this year. So with 4 kids needing to be dropped off at 3 different schools, we are relying on healthy cereal more and more for breakfasts. It is easy and the kids can serve themselves. I am always on the lookout for healthy cereals that my kids will eat. I was recently sent a box of Post’s Honey Bunches of Oats Cereal in the Honey Roasted flavor to review. Since the kids have never tasted this cereal before, we were happy to give it a try. Post Honey Bunches of Oats Honey Roasted Cereal Has 10 grams of whole grain and 2 grams of fiber per serving. Has only 6 grams of sugar per serving. Provides 9 essential vitamins … Continue reading

Buying a Used Geocaching GPS – 8 Questions to Ask the Seller Before You Open Your Wallet

Buying used is a great way to save money on a geocaching GPS if you are short on cash.  Used GPS units can be found in abundance on eBay and Craig’s list.  While buying a used unit online can yield great savings over buying new, it does have the disadvantage that you can’t look the model over and try it out before you complete the purchase.  To help avoid any potential issues, here are a few questions you might want to consider asking the seller before you commit to purchasing a used GPS. 1. What is the condition of the GPS?  You want to make sure that the GPS functions properly before you buy it.  Be sure to ask if there are any problems with the screen display.  Sometimes if a GPS has been dropped frequently, there can be areas of the screen that are damaged.  In addition, be sure … Continue reading
