Chasing Mona Lisa Book Review and Giveaway
I recently had the opportunity to read Chasing Mona Lisa by Tricia Goyer and Mike Yorkey. Normally when reading for pleasure, I stick to Christian romance but the summary of this story had me intrigued. About Chasing Mona Lisa: It is August 1944 and Paris is on the cusp of liberation. As the soldiers of the Third Reich flee the Allied advance, they ravage the country, stealing countless pieces of art. Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring will stop at nothing to claim the most valuable one of all, the Mona Lisa, as a post-war bargaining chip to get him to South America. Can Swiss OSS agents Gabi Mueller and Eric Hofstadler rescue DaVinci’s masterpiece before it falls into German hands? With nonstop action, Chasing Mona Lisa is sure to get readers’ adrenaline pumping as they join the chase to save the most famous painting in the world. From war-ravaged Paris to a … Continue reading

Helping Moms Succeed with Weight Loss – Fit Moms for Life Book Review and Giveaway
Even before I became a dietitian, I read a lot of books on nutrition and weight loss. Most of them claim to have the secret to losing weight – based on the latest fad diet. Just shell out your hard-earned money to buy our book and we will have you thin in no time at all!! Sound familiar? Every once in awhile though I come across a book that has sound weight loss advice and doesn’t sugar-coat the fact that it’s going to be a lot of work. These are books that I feel comfortable recommending to my friends and clients. Dustin Maher’s Book Fit Moms for Life: How to Have Endless Energy to Outplay Your Kids is one such book. You may have seen my review of Dustin’s workout video a few months ago. Dustin took all the great information from the videos and really expanded on it in … Continue reading

Blog Giveaway Roundup – January 20, 2012
I have been sick with a cold this past week so I haven’t done much of anything. Other than play taxi driver to the kids that is. My oldest daughter is in high school and our school district decided to stop busing high school students due to the levy that failed in the fall. There are over 2000 kids at our high school so dealing with all that traffic has not been fun at all. On the plus side, it’s almost the weekend. I hope everyone has a good one! The Shadow of Your Smile by Susan May Warren – Book Review
I recently had the chance to read The Shadow of Your Smile by Susan May Warren and loved it! It was beautifully written and tugged at my heart in ways that I wouldn’t have anticipated. I am definitely going to be reading more of her books in the future. But before I get to my thoughts about the book, here is a little bit about the book and the author. About the book: The Shadow of Your Smile A beautiful blanket of snow may cover the quaint town of Deep Haven each winter, but it can’t quite hide the wreckage of Noelle and Eli Hueston’s marriage. After twenty-five years, they’re contemplating divorce . . . just as soon as their youngest son graduates from high school. But then an accident erases part of Noelle’s memory. Though her other injuries are minor, she doesn’t remember Eli, their children, or the tragedy … Continue reading
Help Maintain Your Eyesight with Zeiss Vision Educational Tools
I have worn glasses since I was in the 4th grade. My husband also wears glasses, as do three of my four children. (I imagine that my youngest will have to start wearing glasses in the next couple of years too.) So maintaining my family’s sight is of great importance to me. Consequently, I was very interested when I learned about Zeiss Educational Tools that help people make informed choices for better eye health. I am familiar with Zeiss as my camera has a Carl Zeiss lens on it. I also know that Zeiss lenses are often used in the production of movies. However, I had no idea that Carl Zeiss Vision is one of the leading manufacturers of optometric products in the world. Their offerings include customized lenses, coatings for eyeglass lenses, optical measuring devices, and diagnostic tools. Currently about 200 million people around the world trust Zeiss lenses … Continue reading

Help for Busy Moms – GoalForIt.com
I have a confession to make… Although I have the best of intentions, my kids don’t help around the house as much as they should. Although I dream of having an immaculate house with kids who remember to pick their towels off the floor and make their beds each morning, the reality is I end up doing those things myself more often than not. Sometimes it’s just easier that way. So when I heard that GoalForIt allows you to make a free chore chart for your kids, I was excited to give them a try.
