Satisfy your Sweet Tooth! SilkFudge Review and Giveaway
Every holiday, our family makes a batch of fudge. I love a good piece of fudge. (Just thinking about it now is making my mouth water.) So when I was recently given the opportunity to try out a sampler from SilkFudge, I readily agreed. From the first bite, I was reminded of my homemade fudge. With a silky smooth texture and a flavor that had me savoring each bite, you can just tell SilkFudge is made with a lot of love and care.

Hot Toy for Christmas 2011! Xia-Xia Hermit Crabs Review and Giveaway
Have your kids been begging for a live hermit crab after seeing them at the mall or your local pet shop? Our mall has a kiosk full of crabs with painted shells and cute little crab homes that lure kids like candy. My kids beg for one every time we are there. They don’t realize that hermit crabs aren’t a pet you can play with and pick up. Fortunately there is a new toy on the market that can satisfy your child’s desire for a hermit crab pet. Just in time for the holidays, Cepia LLC has released Xia-Xia Toy Hermit Crabs and Play Sets. Unlike the real thing, these adorable little crabs are super cute and can provide hours of enjoyment for your child.
American Girl Doll Halloween Candy Bucket – Free Plastic Canvas Pattern
With Halloween fast approaching, I couldn’t resist making a little something for The Little One’s doll. I settled on an American Girl Doll Halloween candy bucket. It worked up really quickly and is so cute. The free plastic canvas pattern could also be used to make little treat baskets for a Halloween party. I think they would be cute filled with candy corn.

Aloha Friday and Blog Hops – October 21, 2011
It’s Aloha Friday at An Island Life! Take a break from posting and answer a simple question. Then be sure to check out all the other bloggers participating. It’s a great way to get to know each other. My Question this week: Any big plans for the weekend? My Answer: Well tonight is Senior Night at the high school football game so we are going to that since my oldest daughter is a senior this year and is in the marching band. They do a little recognition thing where the parents come down and escort the kids across the field. Other than that we are getting our furnace replaced tomorrow. I am so glad. Our house has been so cold lately, but I have been scared to turn on the furnace at all because it was making a horrible squealing sound and an awful smell. This week I am participating … Continue reading

Caramel Apple Turnovers Recipe
Apples… Yum! Caramels… Yum! Put them together and they are absolutely amazing! I adore the combination of caramel and apples. In fact, caramel apple pie is a frequently served dessert in our house during the Autumn. After buying puff pastry on accident recently, I was trying to figure out a recipe to make with it so it didn’t go to waste. Then it came to me, why not convert my favorite pie recipe into caramel apple turnovers. I ended up making 2 batches of these. The first batch wasn’t caramel-ly enough. So I decided to use melted caramels drizzled on the top. I was thrilled with how they turned out; the flaky goodness of the puff pastry combined with the gooey apple filling was just wonderful. These were a huge hit with everyone at my house. I hope you enjoy the recipe!
